Clarke Maternity Hospital
Location
Upper Jackson Street
History
The Clarke Maternity Hospital was opened to receive patients in October 13th, 1918. It quickly met public needs as it was usually occupied and working at capacity, hence it was in need for larger headquarters. The hospital was carried on by two well known nurses in the vicinity, Miss Leone and Leola Clarke.
Services
The hospital was established for maternity cases but it also admitted other cases like tonsil removal or other smaller operations. Only women were admitted.
