Windham Receives Town Charter From General Court

Description

On October 6, 1691, the thirty residents of Windham petition the Connecticut General Court for a town charter. The General Court initially denies their claim as none of the principal proprietors signed the original petition. The following May, the proprietors came to the General Court and consent to a charter for Windham.
