Description

Leesburg becomes Smithville and the mills become Smithville Manufacturing Company The mills are put under the control of Whiting Hayden, a local landowner. The company expands its mills in 1846 and 1852, adds stone cottages in 1853, and constructs a granite expansion in 1857.
