Title

Willimantic Linen Co Lighting Systems

Description

In December of 1879, A.C. Dunham instructs William Barrows to purchase Charles Brush's Electric Arclight System for Mill Number Two. Several weeks later, Barrows and Dunham demonstrate the arc lighting system to dignitaries from all over the United States. In 1882, the Willimantic Linen Company eliminates its use of arc lights in order to use Thomas Edison’s incandescent lights. On August 27, 1883, William Barrows holds a public demonstration of the new incandescent lighting system.
