Max Stein's Willimantic Silk along with the other Domestic Silk subsidiaries on Bridge Street briefly close, putting 900 out of work. After getting tax concessions from Mayor Hurley, the mills reopen.

Windham Silk Company finishes construction of a new three story brick building after buying the property on North Street and tearing down a preexisting extension. The expansion happens to coincide with the company's tenth anniversary.
