Description

Betty Lou Williams assumes the role of executive director of the Willimantic Redevelopment Agency, in charge of overseeing the acquisition, demolition, and reconstruction of downtown. She acquired the nickname "Bulldozer Betty" from her record of indiscriminate demolition when she was executive director of urban renewal in Rockville.
