Hotel Hooker's Facilities
According to Tracy Gordon, “the hotel offered a fine restaurant, billiards and a barbershop, and it was host to meetings of the Venerable Club for gentlemen over 70.” In many ways, the hotel served as a place to rest after a tiring day. Additionally, the hotel was known for being equipped with its very own mode of transportation for guests. Interestingly enough, for quite some time, this transportation was provided by Mr. Jim Hooker—a beloved horse initially purchased by Seth Hooker himself, who would make up to ten round trips a day from the hotel ground to the local railroad station, equating to over 125,000 miles during the course of his rather lengthy life span. Certainly, no ordinary place, the hotel became a location where many prominent individuals, of immense status, wealth, and prestige, chose to congregate.
