The Board of Education Document provided information about the budget for all of the schools in Connecticut.

Funding

Overall funding for schools came from the state however, some money was provided by the town specifically. 

The total education expenditure= $5,639,132.22 for the entire state of Connecticut. ($176,176,581.63 in 2023 dollars)

Town Deposit and Local School Fund = $6,792.70 ($212,216.10 in 2023 dollars)

Costs

Average Cost Per Scholar* Per Day = $0.20 ($6.25 in 2023 dollars)

Average Cost Per Scholar* Per Year = $31.48 ($983.49 in 2023 dollars)

* Scholar was used at the time to indicate pupils.

Immigration

Willimantic had seen an influx of foreign immigrants for decades. Around 1 out of 5 of the new immigrants were school-aged children. For this reason, the town provided $4,374.36 and the state provided $841,086 for those students to be supported properly. 

Wages

The average wage for a woman teacher was around $54.51 per month ($1,702.99 in 2023 dollars). This average wage data however is being greatly swayed by a few large salaries. Most only made around $10 ($312.42 in 2023 dollars) a week for 36-37 weeks. 

Tutoring

Direct aid was provided to evening schooling as well on the basis of around $2.25 per every student ($70.29 in 2023 dollars).
