The Oaks School
The Oaks School was the only school south of the Wililmantic River, and served students living in The Oaks neighborhood.

History
"The Oaks" in Willimantic were a development that was built by the Willimantic Linen Company. These new homes were created with the anticipation of new workers that would be coming in. They were not the same overall look as normal tenements, instead their individual designs represented homes that brought more comfort and became what many others used as the image of industrial housing. Once a community was being established in these new homes, an elementary grade-level school was built.

The curriculum at the Oaks was heavily influenced by Piaget's Theory of learning through experiences.
